Alexander Ludwig Honours Five Year Milestone

Actor Alexander Ludwig has just reached the significant milestone of being five years free of alcohol.

The 30-year-old Canadian celebrated his sobriety in a video shared via Instagram on Sunday, 23 April, in which he spoke about what sparked his decision to abstain from the bottle.

“It’s pretty crazy to me that five years ago to the day, I was so lost, so confused and so scared about where my life would go,” he said. “All I knew was that I had an issue and a problem that needed to be fixed,” Ludwig added.

Coincidentally, the “Vikings” star’s sobriety anniversary also falls on the same day he went on his first date with his now-wife, Lauren Ludwig, three years ago – a point the actor called “serendipitous”. The two later wed in an intimate elopement ceremony in Utah mountains in 2021 with their dog by their side.

“If you’re struggling, be brave enough to ask for help and take it from me, there really is hope at the end of the road, there really is a light at the end of the tunnel,” he said emphatically.

The actor finished his video by reading an introspective poem titled, “The Pond”, that he had written while attending rehabilitation.
